iPod touch touch screen issue acknowledged
Apple knowledge base adds update to solve screen issues

Apple has acknowledged the "negative black" issue that has plagued many buyers of the new iPod touch. While current iPod touch units on store shelves appear to be problem free, early units ("week 37" units with serial numbers of the format 9C737xxxx) were often reported to have a problem in the display in which dark images appeared to have reversed colouration.
In order to solve this problem, Apple has added this article (#306651) to their Knowedge base, which outlines the problem and the "fix".
The downloadable update, version 1.1.1, is available through iTunes once you connect your iPod touch to your computer and Apple claims it will solve the following problems:
- Dark or black spots
- Video is very dark and looks like a negative image
- Dark colors look like film negative
- Black areas appear oversaturated to the point of being reflective
- Black areas appear to shimmer
Please comment if you have (or have not!) had success applying this fix to a week 37 iPod touch.
