Apple has released a firmware update for the new iPod touch. The 1.1.1 firmware is a 150mb download, available on iTunes, which allegedly fixes the "negative black" issue many early iPod touch units had. This issue caused some dark images to appear with negative colouration. The improved firmware is said to adjust contrast settings. Early reports stated that the negative black issue was caused by the LCD coating on the iPod touch screens. It would appear now that the negative black issue is software related. While results from applying the new firmware are still coming in, it's probably worth installing the new software if you are experiencing display problems with your iPod touch.
