iPod Touch can be used as a USB hard drive
Mac users can use disk capabilities

The "enable disk use" utility of previous Apple iPods is noticeably missing in the new iPod Touch - yet another in a growing list of absent applications. While Apple's latest iPod brings some great new features like built-in iTunes and YouTube, users are going to have a tricky time using their new iPod Touch as a portable USB drive.

There's a glimmer of hope, however, at least for Mac users. A modified version of the software 'iPhuc', can be used to transfer data on and off the iPod Touch. Similarly to the iPhone, iPhuc can be used to copy files and documents to and from the Media/Documents folder on the iPod Touch.
To use disk drive capabilities with the new iPod Touch, download iPhuc here, rename it to 'util' and then copy it into the media utilities folder.

I haven't tried it myself, but I think the Media Utilities folder is on the iPod touch.

how annoying! i was so excited to get the ipod touch that i didn't even think to check if that 'enable disk use' utility was there. i just assumed it came automatically. how dumb of them not to include that automatically.
