iPod Touch Calendar Function 'Crippled'

Unable to add calendar entries with new iPod Touch

2007-09-16 14:53

Now that the new Apple iPod Touch is available on some store shelves, reports are coming in that the calendar function originally included with Apple's iPhone is 'crippled' in the iPod touch. According to reviewers, the iPod Touch doesn't allow you to add events to the calendar, despite using the same operating system and application frameworks as the iPhone.

The original text of the iPod "Multi-touch" features as shown on Apple's features pages stated that calendar events could be added.

Since then, Apple has replaced the text with the following, however the original (incorrect) text still appears on other international pages.

The real question is why would Apple go out of their way to remove functionality from a new product which uses the same operating system and applications as the iPhone? As more and more people get their hands on the new iPod touch, we'll try to keep you posted on any other "missing" or "crippled" features of Apple's newest gadget.
