Yesterday Apple announced the upcoming release of the new Apple iPod Touch. This long anticipated offspring of Apples iPhone and iPod technology brings a phoneless iPhone to Apples ever-growing lineup.
The new 8GB and 16GB Touch will have some great new features, as announced by Steve Jobs yesterday. At 10:30am Steve announced some of the cooler aspects of the new iPod Touch :
"It features our revolutionary multi-touch interface that you've come to know and love on the iPhone. If you've used an iPhone you'll feel at home, it's exactly the same. Scroll through the artists with a flick of your finger. Turn it into a landscape position, it goes into Cover Flow, it's just magical. All on this 8mm device. Let's look at video... all on this gorgeous 3.5-inch widescreen display. And photos... just like the iPhone this is the best way to share photos on a portable device. Ever. Flick through them, pinch them to make them larger or smaller."
Not only will the iPod touch have the best music capabilities of any of Apple's lineup, but it also brings Wi-fi to the mix, with an included Safari browser, built-in YouTube, and an online iTunes store.
Also announced were a new 160GB iPod "classic" and a new fatter and shorter Nano to replace Apple's current iPod Video and iPod Nano.
The showstopper was Jobs' announcement of a $200 price drop in the iPhone, bringing the price down significantly on this popular item.
